A little about fabrics

It is hard to have a blog about fashion and not once talk about fabrics.
For without them there would be no clothes and the world would be a much different place. Since it is the production of textiles and improving the speed and scale of fabrics manufacturing that sparked many of the inventions in the industrial revolution.
Fabric is a material formed by knitting, weaving, knotting, crocheting, bonding or pressing fibers together. There are many types of fabrics but fibers are either natural or manmade. Natural fibers can be of animal or vegetal sources. Synthetic are produced either from cellulose or polymer. Polymers are derivative of Petrochemicals. Synthetic fibers are produced cheaply and in vast quantities but with a more environment conscious society there is a return to using natural fibers.
